How to Join VyStar
We appreciate your interest in VyStar Credit Union and welcome new members.
Non-members can apply to join directly from our website, at a branch or by mail. Open a VyStar Primary Savings (Membership) Account with us and more. VyStar’s Primary Savings Account is a membership account and requires a $5 minimum deposit. Minimum deposit requirements for other accounts may vary depending on the type of account you are opening.
For this process, you will need the following:
- U.S. driver’s license, passport or state ID (valid/current)
- U.S. Social Security number or Individual Tax Identification Number
- U.S. citizenship or resident alien status
- Access to a scanner or a jpg image of your identification above
- External account information to fund the new account
- Valid email address
- Address, social security number and date of birth for anyone who will be listed as a beneficiary for the account
A non-member will need to be sure they have the following information before beginning the membership and account opening process:
- valid email address
- scanned copy of their current/valid U.S. Driver’s License, U.S. State ID or Passport with a photo for anyone who will be an owner of the account saved on their computer
- social security number, date of birth, address, phone number and employment information for everyone who will be an owner on the account
- address, social security number and date of birth for anyone who will be listed as a beneficiary for the account
- routing number and account number for the account they will use to fund their new account(s)

Accounts & Services |
Open a Primary Savings Account and more. Other accounts you may be interested in are: Regular Savings*, Checking, Money Market and Certificate Accounts.
*More than one savings account can be opened. Requirements for funding the accounts you select may vary. Applicants up to 26 years old will be offered VyStar accounts specific to their needs to include: Kids Club, VyTeen, Bravo and Achieve Accounts.

Step 3:
Funds |
Review the accounts you would like to open and agree to the Terms and Conditions. Make arrangements for your deposit to fund your new account by transferring funds from an account you have with VyStar (existing members only).You can also arrange to move money from another financial institution to fund your new account. |
Step 4: Confirmation |
Once your application is submitted, you will receive an application confirmation number and will have an opportunity to save or print your Membership Application/Account Card. Select “Finish” and you are done. An email will be sent to you to confirm your request. |
Note: Business Accounts, IRAs (Individual Retirement Account), HSAs (Health Savings Account), or other specialty accounts not available with online process.
Join Now
Apply for membership at any VyStar branch. To save time, you can complete your membership application before you come in, but do not sign and date it. A VyStar Member Relationship Specialist at the branch will witness the signing and dating of your application. Also, please bring your driver’s license or other valid government-issued photo identification and a copy of a utility bill (gas, electric, water/sewer etc.), deed, mortgage or completed utility hook up/work order that reflects your name and current address.
If you plan to mail your membership application to us, please be sure to include:
- Your completed, signed and notarized membership application.
- A check or money order in the amount of $5, which covers your $5 membership deposit into your primary savings account.
- A notarized copy of your driver's license or other valid government-issued photo identification, excluding military IDs.
- A notarized copy of a utility bill (gas, electric, water/sewer etc.), recorded deed of trust or mortgage or completed utility hook up/work order that reflects your name and current address.
- If you do not work or live in the approved membership counties and you are joining by family membership, please provide us with the first and last name and address of your family member.
- Mail your completed application to the address below. If you would like to drop off your completed membership application at a VyStar branch without meeting with a Member Relationship Specialist to notarize your documents, you will need to follow the same instructions as when applying by mail.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT — To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT FOR A MINOR: When opening an account for a minor (under 18 years of age), you will need to have a certified copy or original of their birth certificate and social security card available, or a state identification card.
MAKE A CHANGE TO YOUR ACCOUNT: In the future, if you would like to make a change to your account – for example, add a person or change a beneficiary, please contact us for assistance. There is a form you will need to complete.
